Jazz Legacy concert
Why does Thelonius Monk play piano like that? Why is John Coltrane’s music so intense? Why is Billie Holiday’s voice so unique? The Jazz Legacy Project has an ongoing residency at the Velvet Note Jazz Club in Atlanta, Georgia where they regularly sell out performances. They’ve discovered playing jazz and telling the stories behind the music is something audiences thoroughly enjoy. Firebringer: The Musical
Our local teens who brought you “Be More Chill”, “Ride the Cyclone”, and “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” are set to bring another incredible musical to the stage here in the Tobacco Valley. “Firebringer” is a musical comedy with music and lyrics by Meredith Stepien and Mark Swiderski , a book by Matt Lang, Nick Lang, and Brian Holden. It explores the interconnectedness of civilization, cultivation of natural resources and capitalism. “Firebringer” blends rich themes with infectious music and crass cave drawings.
At the dawn of humanity, one tribe of cave people survives the many trials of prehistoric life under the wise leadership of Jemilla, The Peacemaker. Jemilla taught her people to express themselves, rather than bashing each others' heads with rocks and eating each others' babies. But one member of the tribe doesn't seem to fit in: Zazzalil. She's always trying to invent things to make life easier through her inventions. While out hatching her latest scheme, Zazzalil stumbles upon the most important discovery in history. One that will pit her tribe against wooly mammoths, saber-toothed tigers, and change the world forever.
Tickets at the door. $10/adult, $5/student
