Teen Musical

In 2021, two teens with a vision asked if Sunburst Arts would help them produce the Broadway musical, Be More Chill. It was a bit of a learning curve for everyone! These young students navigated how to hold auditions, get everyone from backstage manager to actors to the individuals in the sound booth working together as a team, and for Sunburst to navigate what was required to get a license for a Broadway show and the backing tracks. But it all came together so well, that during the next school year, more kids became involved and two more musicals happened, Ride the Cyclone and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. And then in January 2024, they did Firebringer! Now they are getting ready for the April 2024 production of The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals. Find details under our Events!

Sunburst is excited to be collaborating with these young people in producing fantastic musicals for our community. It also is an opportunity for students to learn a variety of skills we know will benefit them going forward. Thanks to the audiences who attend these performances (and applaud so well!) and to the various sponsors who so generously support these shows.
